Purolator USA offering new express service to Canada

JERICHO, N.Y. — Purolator USA has introduced a new express delivery service to Canada that offers guaranteed next day or second day delivery. The new service, called Purolator USA Express, is currently available to New York-metropolitan businesses, in advance of a broader roll-out later this year.

“Our Purolator USA Express service was developed in response to the many businesses who complained about the lack of options for overnight and second day delivery to the Canadian market,” explained Purolator USA vice-president for strategy and business development Conal Finnegan. ”Because of Purolator’s extensive distribution network throughout Canada, we realized that we had the resources to offer premium service to Canada at a price point that will please most businesses. We are so confident in our ability and network to deliver, that we are offering a money back guarantee on two of our service levels.”

Businesses can select from four delivery options:

Purolator Express 9 a.m. – Money back guaranteed next-day delivery in Canada by 9 a.m., for urgent shipments.

Purolator Express 10:30 a.m.  – Money back guaranteed next-day delivery to Canada by 10:30 a.m., for urgent shipments that need to arrive by mid-morning.

Purolator Express – Ideal for next day shipments that are still urgent, but can be delivered to their Canadian destination by end-of-day.

Purolator Expedited – A more flexible option for shipments that need to arrive in Canada within two days.

UPS online tracking doesn’t actually know where your package is

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2010/03/17/ups-online-tracking-doesnt-actually-know-where-your-package-is/

My experience is that UPS uses a predictive software to put on the tracking site where they think a package should be at a given point in time based on previous data. Not necessarily a positive tracking of a physical scan, say when a package is loaded on a delivery vehicle and the vehicle actually departs a terminal. I have seen instances where a parcel was scanned out of a container into a terminal and the computer “assumed” that since the package entered the terminal in the critical entry window and before the vehicle departed, that the package must be on the truck, when in fact it was not.
